For many years now we have partnered with our neighbor across the street, University Hills Elementary School, to help support their staff, students, and families through several missional areas.
School in the Garden
A new and exciting summer outreach to children in kindergarten through 5th grade from University Hills Elementary School. Opportunities available to help teach about cooking & gardening, participate in a mock farmer’s market, and facilitate other fun outdoor learning activities.
*Volunteers should sign-up in the front lobby of the church or contact Tracy Esslinger; firstname.lastname@example.org
Every school year we assemble a team of people to help tutor the children of University Hills Elementary.
We are always looking for and welcoming individuals who would like to join this team. Each individual tutor comes up with their own hours, within the set school day. Depending on your availability you will be assigned to a class/Teacher. If you have a passion for teaching and/or working with children, this is a great area to work in.
*Volunteer application packets can be picked up in the church front office during normal office hours.
Mobile Food Pantry
Maybe you only have a couple of hours each month to serve. Well then here is the perfect opportunity for you. Every 2nd Friday of the month, starting in September, we host a mobile food pantry for the families of University Hills Elementary. Volunteers are needed to help unload the food and help distribute. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 1:00pm down in the south parking lot of the church, straight across from the school, and distribution starts at 2:00pm.
Christmas Angel Tree
During the season of Advent we like to help the children of University Hills Elementary have a Merry Christmas. During this time of year we have an “Angel Tree” located in the front foyer of the church. There people can pick up an angel tag marked with the name, age, and wishes of a University Hills student. Gifts are wrapped and returned under the “Angel Tree” to be distributed to the students.
