A Message from the Office at UUMC
This is a reminder that the church office is still closed to the public until further notice. There is a staff member at the church between 9am-3pm to handle essential business only such as answer phone calls, receive mail/packages, and just have some sort of presence so that the church building is not completely vacant and therefore a target for vandalism. Of course, any of our staff that are unable to leave their homes for whatever reason has been allowed to opt out of these shifts and are working remotely from home.
For health and safety of both you and our staff we ask that everyone refrain from coming into the church office. Therefore, please call or email the church before you make an unnecessary trip over. The staff have been made aware of the individuals that have essential business to attend to and when. Anyone else attempting to gain access to the building will be screened by the staff on shift as to whether their business is essential or not.
At the same time, we rely heavily on your gifts and donations so you are still welcome to drop off donations of food for the food pantry, tithe and offerings, and any other essential business during our new business hours. Just bring your donation and leave it either on the donation cart or in the mailbox, ring the video doorbell, and one of our staff will confirm that they are here and will receive your drop off as soon as you have returned to your vehicle. If you have arranged to pick something up, please call ahead to confirm that it is ready. When you arrive if your item for pick-up is not already out on the donation cart, you can either ring the video doorbell or call the office phone and the staff member on shift will greet you and let you know when your pick-up will be ready.
We have also made arrangements to have a “minister on call” line for anyone who needs a prayer or an ear to listen for a short while. Anyone can call the main church line (575-522-8220) between 9am -8pm and either ask to be transferred to the minister on call or select option 1. Pastor Heike, her husband Pastor George, several staff, and some local retired pastors have all volunteered to be on call throughout the week.
We still have our Congregational Care Hotline available for congregational care emergencies (hospitalizations, prayer requests, etc.). Just call (575) 640-9907.
We pray that you all continue to stay safe and connected during these trying times and know that your church family is still here and working for this, God’s church.
