UUMC Updates 03-20-2020
Greetings UUMC Family & Friends
Here are your updates from your family at University UMC for Friday, March 20th 2020
“… Suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.”
As of today, March 20th the leadership of UUMC has decided to cancel all in-person worship services and move to online worship services only until further notice. This Sunday, March 22nd Brian Townsend will provide a special Journey devotional at 9:45am on the Journey Facebook page
We will livestream the 11am worship service with Pastor Heike and have it available on both our Facebook page and Youtube channel.
We also will have our online worship team available during the 11am worship service to greet you, take prayer requests, and receive any feedback you have at that time just like our regular in-person worship. Your electronic bulletin will arrive in a separate email Sunday morning before the 11am worship service.
We received lots of positive feedback from our first ever Online Worship Service last Sunday. We do know there are some areas that we can improve upon, but we are very optimistic that we will only continue to get better.
Drive-Thru Now Open
The church is not just a building and we want you to know that even though the doors may be closed, God’s church never is.
That is why starting next week we will be opening our very own UUMC drive-thru. If you are needing prayers, would like to take part in holy communion, or just need to drop off your tithe and offerings, the drive thru lane in front of the church office entrance at the north end of the building will be open Tuesday from 4-6pm and Wednesday from 9-11am. All you do is pull-up and someone will greet you with a word of prayer and blessing.
Have you connected yet? Earlier this week we began the work to initiate Connection Groups which are to be led by 1-2 Co-leaders. Co-leaders have been assigned and should be getting in contact with you soon. Some of the things that your connection group will do are…
- Make sure everyone in your household is okay on a regular basis and report back to the church of any needs or other updates.
- Find out what the best means to communicate with your household about church and connection group updates are (i.e phone calls, texts, emails, etc.)
- Ask if you have a prayer request to be put on the prayer chain
- Let you know your church family loves you, cares about you, and will be checking in often.
- Find out if you are able to attend worship services online via Facebook or YouTube and assist you with doing so.
This is just one more way of staying connected with our church family at such a time as this and for the hopeful future ahead.
Small Group Cancellations
All in-person meetings and groups have been canceled as of today, March 20th. Our UUMC staff and leadership will be getting in touch with everyone soon to help make arrangements where possible for alternative forms of meeting (video conferencing, conference calls, etc.) Please check in with your group and/or Ministry leader to find out what alternative plans have been made soon.
Send us your stuff!
Here are some pictures from your UUMC family? We want to see how you are spending your time. Send us your pictures of how you are experiencing Christ from home or wherever you are this week!
