The Basic Course in Lay Servant Ministries covers topics such as servant and spiritual leadership, caring ministries, basic communication skills, sharing your faith and leading meetings. It will enhance your knowledge and skill as a Christian leader.

Advanced Lay Servant Training
This Advanced Lay Servant class will be held on February 9, 2019 at University UMC, Las Cruces NM from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. It is a combination of training for the El Paso District Board of Laity, CLM Continuing Education Credit and Advanced Lay Servant Course! *Registrations close February 1. No late or walk-ins accepted.
This training will spark a conversation in your ministry setting about creating a lifestyle of intentional discipleship. The training will also help laity engage their congregation to pursue and evolve the community around them as part of a discipleship system.

Our Sunday School classes all meet during the hour between Sunday services from 9:45am-10:45am. All of our classes are open and welcoming to newcomers. If you would like more information on any of our Sunday School classes you can contact the individual leaders listed below by e-mail, or contact the Church Office.
*Childcare is available in Room 5 for children 6 weeks to 4 years during the Sunday School hour.
Kids of the Kingdom
Elementary & Middle School children’s Sunday School. We aid the children in Christian development by introducing them to God’s word and the love of Jesus Christ. The curriculum is a rotational model that includes Music, Storytelling, Games, Cooking, and Videos; all directly related to the scripture lesson.
- Kindergarten – 3rd grade – Room 8 with Sherlyn Bledsoe
- 4th grade- 7th grade – Room 9 with Rosanna Geiger & Brian Townsend
This class explores the stories of the Bible by looking at the history, studying the facts, reading the scripture, and lots of discussion. Everyone’s opinions matter and no one person is right or wrong. Every scripture means something different to each person, and we learn from each others’ interpretation.

This class examines a wide range of Christian literature, and topical studies using books, video, and internet sources. Class members enjoy lively discussions and friendly interactions each week.

This class is an opportunity to learn more about the Bible by meeting with adults of all ages in a small group setting to discuss and learn about how God’s word applies to our everyday live, so that we may show (shine) the love of Christ (the SON) in today’s world. The SONshine class studies the Bible through using media, books, and scripture.
