Congregational Care

Our Congregational Care Ministry is here to help support the members of University UMC by showing Christ’s love to each and every person who comes through our doors each week. Here are some of the different ways we care for our friends and family at University UMC.

*Due to the ongoing COVID crisis, many of our Congregational care ministries and teams are either meeting remotely (via video conference) or keeping in touch via non-contact forms of communication. Please check with the office to find out how you can get in touch with any of these care teams.

¨ Upper Room Prayer Group

This group meets every Wednesday @ 9:30am to pray for those on our Prayer list and others.

¨ Cancer Care Group

Our Cancer Care group comes together every 2nd & 4th Tuesday evening of the month at 6:30pm to provide a support network for those dealing with Cancer as well as their loved ones.

¨ Grief Support Groups

We have a Support group that meets every Sunday at 2:00pm in our Room B. Their mission is to provide healing and wholeness to those in need of the loving embrace of Christ.

¨ Prayer Shawl Stitchers

This ministry provides knitted & crocheted shawls for those in need of healing, compassion, and prayer. Our Prayer Shawl Stitchers meet every 4th Tuesday of the Month at 6:00pm in the church parlor to “Meditate, Create, & Donate”

¨ Visitation Team

A group of caring individuals who go out and visit our members when they are in the hospital, Care Centers, or housebound.

This team aides the church by assisting  families during times of loss and mourning. They are often called upon to help provide/organize meals for funerals/memorials, host at memorial receptions, and other miscellaneous tasks in relation to funeral/memorial services.

¨ Home Communion Team

Our Home Communion Team takes Holy Communion to those of our members who can’t make it to church or who are in need of a little extra blessing.

¨ Visitors Outreach Team

This Team reaches out to our first time visitors through phone calls, e-mails, and letters just to let them know we appreciate them coming to University UMC and we hope to see them again.
